Product Introduction
This product is designed for performing the Heimlich maneuver on infants. The manikin is developed based on the anatomical and physiological characteristics of infants, making it suitable for simulating tracheal foreign body obstruction.
Airway obstruction due to foreign objects is common in infants. Because their epiglottic cartilage is not fully developed and functions inadequately, they are prone to inhaling objects into the trachea while talking, crying, laughing, or engaging in vigorous activities with something in their mouth. This can lead to airway blockage and suffocation.
First Aid Techniques
Back Blows Method
Position the infant in a straddling and prone position on the rescuer’s forearm, ensuring the head is lower than the torso.
Secure the infant’s head while resting the arm on the rescuer’s thigh.
Use the palm of the other hand to deliver 4-6 strong blows between the infant’s shoulder blades.
This increases airway pressure, helping to dislodge and expel the foreign object.
Chest Thrusts Method
Place the infant in a supine position, cradling them in the rescuer’s arm with the head slightly lower than the torso.
Using two fingers, press 4-6 times on the sternum at the intersection of the nipple line and the midline of the chest.
These methods can be alternated as needed until the foreign object is expelled or the infant loses consciousness.
